Dear Friends,
Greetings of the day !
Empower Foundation takes pride in becoming a part of policy making process of Government of India drafting the National Youth Policy in 2011. The last youth policy was made in 2003. The policy gets reviewed every 10 years and in the World Youth Year (2011) it is India's pride to launch the new policy for the decade. Youth forms a core of any country and especially India which is predominantly a young dempgraphy and youth is the strength of the country as against our developed wester counterparts. Hence, it becomes important to have strong and favorable policies and schemes for the youth and the same is incomplete without the involvement of the citizen of India.
We take great pleasure in sharing the draft policy with you (attached). Request you to please spend some of your valuable time reviewing the same and share your comments / feedback. If the whole policy looks lengthy, then you may look within to focus on some areas close to your hearth like Education, Employment, Health, Environment, etc. There might be some area which needs focus or change, which you might feel is important from the youths perspective. For eg. More focus on the Youth of Tribal areas who are deprived or the Women, or it could be on some area of Education where the entire teaching process could be questioned or recommended. For eg. we are recommedning inclusion of Social Credit system in schools and colleges where the students involved in Social services duly as per the proposed policy in details would be liable to get Social credit/points which will help them in relaxation of cut-offs in the next level. For eg. if the cut off is 70% for getting admission in Engineering, the proposed Social credit policy if implemented, would give a student with 67% and edge of 3% grace points (hypothetical) to qualify for the same, thus encouraging participation in Social services at young age.
Please feel free to share your thoughts or speak to us and believe me, this itself is a big social work, more important than donating some stuff or spending a few hours doing something for the poor. Your involvement in the polciy making of the nation is very important and we encourage you to come forth and participate in making the young India more empowered ! Please send in your feedback / views by March 20, 2010 on empowerfoundation@gmail.com
Do forward this to your friends so that they can also become a part of this important national inititative.
Best regards,
Empower Foundation

Empower Foundation (Establishment Motivated to Protect and Promote Oppressed People’s Welfare, Economic Freedom & Rights) is a group of young corporate citizen, who have come together with a common objective to do something and give back to the society. We are an NGO based in Mumbai, registered with Bombay Public Trust Act and also with the Planning Commission, Government of India.
[] We are engaged in certain projects and activities for the upliftment and empowerment of youth, tribals and women.
[] We dont believe in a charity of handing some old clothes, food or alms to someone as that is not sustainable help. We strongly believe in empowering the needy, so that he/she can make his own life batter and worthy.
[] We do not ideally encourage someone contributing a small sum from his/her salary every month without knowing what happens to that money. We strongly believe that someone doing a charity should be able to see the end-beneficiary and participate in making the impact in his/her life - the contribution could be anything as per convenience - time, money, help. And beilieve us, it is very satisfying !
We are young and growing and would more like-minded people to come along. If you would like to become a part of the core team or want to share your thoughts please email us on empowerfoundation@gmail.com
